If the person has a yellowish tint to the teeth, bleaching agent will be just fine. If the teeth have darker or brownish tint then bleaching agent won’t work much. If you have a grayish tint to the teeth then bleaching agent won’t work at all. If the person has crowns and caps then it won’t work at all. The first question the person should ask is that if he/she should get teeth whitened at office or home.

Use of home made remedies is also seen now days. This can also be done by guidance of the dentist. This is done by application of bleaching agent such as carbamide peroxide. This compound comes in concentrations ranging from 10% to 22%.this helps in bleaching the enamel. Use of tooth whitening kits can also be bought by the dentist who can be worn by application on mouth piece. Some may direct you to wear it in the night where as some may need you to wear it in the day for the same time. These depend on the type of bleaching kit you buy from the dentist. This can be discussed by the dentist only. Initial complications can be swollen gums due to irritation and sensitivity to the bleaching agent. This is because of the leakage of bleaching agent and coming in contact with the gums. Others is sensitivity to heat and cold
